At that time, the founder of the family, maybe of Frankish origin, enjoyed the title of Sire of Panigai and he lived in Friuli region lowland.

The family did not only stay in its feuds in Friuli region and in Farra di Soligo, in fact Bortolo of Panigai, a Jesuit, in the beginning of ‘700 go to work for the king of Portugal contributing to the tracing of the Brazil border.
With the Renaissance the part of the family that lives in Friuli stayed in Austro-Hungarian area, while the one who lived in Farra di Soligo entered in Italy, that was born after the Third Independence War in 1866. The family of Panigai, through its branch of Friuli region and the one of the Veneto region, crossed history for more than 900 years always preserving its original name, also because the title of rank and the House name were handed on by feminine means.
From the beginning of ‘900, the grandfather of the present head of the family, Giovanni Bevacqua, married the last Panigai’s heir.
In the ’50 the Italian Republic consented that the name Bevacqua were added to the original name of the very ancient Panigai’s family of medieval origins |
